Catherine Alberta Kiser, 1931-1943

Catherine Alberta Kiser, 1943

Catherine Alberta Kiser (Kate) was born on November 12, 1924, in Uniontown, Ohio. She graduated from UHS in 1943. Fortunately, I have her copy of the Utonian (school yearbook for 1943). I have included a complete copy at the end of this folder.

• Key parts of the yearbook are highlighted in the photo gallery.

The Class Prophecy: Catherine Kiser will become Mrs. Denvil Workman and will live in West Virginia. Kate, in her spare time, will referee girls basketball games. Her new rule will be: “Foul for speeding down the basketball floor.”

Senior Class will: Kate Kiser wishes to divide her quiet manners between Jane Patterson and Veatrice Deckard. I would say that there is some level of sarcasm in this statement. Kate was usually not quiet and could be feisty if provoked.

• There were 14 people in Kate’s graduating class. There are multiple photos of that group in the gallery.

• It is common for high school classes to conduct periodic class reunions. In this case, because Kate’s class was so small, they combined with other years. I recall that she attended one reunion in her life (and had a good time).

• It is difficult to determine when some photos were taken; I used an educated guess strategy. Some of these photos may have been taken later than high school.
