Nathan Melvrie Workman, 1877-1961 & Juditha Totten Hamrick, 1882-1965 (Biographical Overview)

Nathan Melvrie Workman was born on June 17, 1877. The exact location is unknown; however, the research done by Phil Hayes points toward Confluence (now Orlando) in Lewis County, WV. He was the fourth of seven children of George Washington Workman and Abagail McKinney. Nathan died August 21, 1961, in Enoch.
Juditha Totten Hamrick was born on June 24, 1882, in the community of Enoch, in Clay County. She was the oldest of ten children of Samuel Black Hamrick and Mary Ellen Ramsey. Juditha died January 21, 1965, in Enoch.
Nathan and Juditha were married October 9, 1897. He was twenty and she was fifteen. They had thirteen children, seven boys and six girls.
Both of my paternal great grandparents spent almost their entire lives in Clay County, West Virginia (see maps below). Nathan’s family moved from Lewis County to Buffalo District in Clay County (presumably to the Enoch area) when he was three. Why they moved there is not known.

That way, the author’s viewpoint is clearly discernable. For reference, Phil Hayes is the grandson of Hettie Workman Hayes; Hollie Workman is son of Nathan & Juditha; Alta Workman Brady is daughter of Nathan and Juditha; Damon Workman is son of Walter Workman, grandson of Nathan & Juditha.
