Navigating this website

• The following accordion section provides a brief explanation of each tab in the menu bar (left to right).

• The family history tabs are where the “meat” of the website resides. Hopefully, these will not be static sections. New material will be added as it becomes available. The plan is to start with older generations and then move forward. Whenever there is sufficient information/data, the folders will be divided into specific time periods.

• Within these family history tabs, I will also include genealogy information, e.g. family tree descendant charts.

Click on the + signs to see more information about each topic.

  • Sections include:

    • About us

    • How to get started

    • Website News

  • This is the place to start, particularly if you are a new user. It provides background info and tips on how to get the most out of the website. Once you are familiar with the info in this section, you can go directly to any section that you desire.

  • The first part of this section will deal with Mike & Dianne’s family information, from 1968 to the present. I envision this eventually becoming a rather large anthology. The second part is titled MJW Blog. (I am still thinking about content.) The final part is a placeholder labeled MJW Creative Photos. Most of the photos in other sections are directly related to family history and/or genealogy. Photos posted here may be more creative.

  • I have more information about the Kiser family than I originally anticipated; however, it only goes back a couple of generations.

  • Kiser Family Events…These folders will be used to document past, present, and future family events. Things I have in mind include family reunions, weddings, funerals, and other occasions that have wide-spread interest and cut across generational lines.

  • I was pleasantly surprised about the amount of information available for the Rider clan.

  • I have the most photos/documentation for the Workman families, so this will end up being the largest portion of the website. Being the largest also means it will most likely take the longest time to complete.

This tab traces the Workman line from Jans William Workman (Woertman)-1598 to Nathan Melvrie Workman-1961.

  • This tab documents the Workman line from Walter Edward Workman forward.

  • Workman Family Events…These folders will be used to document past, present, and future family events. Things I have in mind include family reunions, weddings, funerals, and other occasions that have wide-spread interest and cut across generational lines.

  • This tab documents the Mullins history from Bertha backward a few generations.

  • Thanks to Phil Hayes, we have history of the Ramsey Family from John William Ramsey-1788 to Juditha.

  • This is the tab where all other families will be tracked, e.g. Dianne’s parents and the families of our children’s spouses.

Within these Family History tabs, I will also include two key topics:

    • Genealogy…This folder will be primarily populated with charts, include current information about family members, and perhaps links to external genealogy data.

    • Family Events…This folder will be used to document past, present, and future family events. Things I have in mind include family reunions, weddings, funerals, and other occasions that have wide-spread interest and cut across generational lines.

  • • Bentree Information…

    • Clay County Information…

    • Nicholas County Information…

    • Fayette County Information

    • ERC&L Company, BC&G RR…

    • WV Maps…

    • WV Travel Information… Travel information about West Virginia will be presented here.

  • This is another important tab, with the following vital folders:

    • Resources Directory & Bibliography…This folder contains lists of contributors, sources, and books used to create the website.

    • Genealogy Relationship Charts…This folder contains several charts that show how to determine your relationship to close and/or distant cousins.

    • Family Audio Files Index…This is a convenient spreadsheet index of audio and video files, including a brief description of the content.

    • Audio/Video Clips…All the audio and video files will be stored in these sections. In addition, transcriptions of the audio will be stored here.

  • As the name implies, this section will highlight topics that I think are interesting. They may not always directly relate to family history. These are few things I am considering:

    • Personality Types…

    • Spiritual Assessment…

    • SHAPE…

    • Birth Order…

    • Biblical Prophecy…

    • Plan of Salvation…

    • Effective Grandparenting…
